Thomas A. Glynn, 84th of Springfield, MA., entered into eternal rest on Saturday February 9, 2013 at Wingate of East Longmeadow Nursing Home. Thomas was born in Springfield, MA., on October 15, 1928 to the late Arthur P.S. Glynn and Maria (Phipps) Glynn. Tom was also pre- deceased by his lovely wife Shirley M. Glynn, two brothers Samuel P. Glynn and Arthur P. Glynn. He was schooled in Springfield and served in the U.S Army.
Thomas moved to Philadelphia, PA., where he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Morton. They raised three sons there. After Shirley’s demise, Tom moved to Newport News, VA, residing there for eight years before returning to Springfield in 2000. Thomas was a member of Third Baptist Church of Newport News, VA. Tom loved Jazz music, looking for antiques and he loved to travel. Tom was a happy spirit.
He leaves to mourn his passing three sons, Eric Glynn of Philadelphia, Pa., Gregory (Charlotte) Glynn of Charlotte, NC., and Christopher Glynn of Chicago, Ill., Tom also leaves one brother, Arnold (Ethel) Glynn of Tuskegee, AL., sisters in laws, Dolores Morton of Philadelphia. PA., and Carlotta Glynn of Bowie, MD., one sister Matilda (Tillie) Wright of Springfield, of whom shared his cared for 12 years, also eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
My heart felt thanks to all the employees at Wingate at East Longmeadow, for your compassion care and love these past six in half years, also to Sol Amor Hospice for their care.
Services will be held at Henderson funeral Home, 52 Hancock Street Springfield, Ma. on Friday, Feb.15, 2013. Calling hours are 10 am-11 am. Following the funeral at 11 am. With Full Military Honors. Burial will follow at Mass Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
