Mother Willie Mae Butler passed away on Monday, February 27, 2012 into her eternal rest with her Lord.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Dr. Elouise Franklin Prayer Temple New Hope C.O.G.I.C., 104 Hancock St., Springfield, MA. Viewing is at 10:00 A.M. followed by services at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
Mother Willie Mae Butler was born on January 31, 1932, to the late proud parents of Charlie Butler and Lizzie Mae Butler of Winchester, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by one brother, Joe Gibson and two sisters Lucille Summers and Virgina Butler.
Young Willie Mae attended local schools in Winchester and Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Willie moved to Springfield, Massachusetts in 1950 and remained there until her demise. She was a member of a local Baptist church in the 50’s, later joining and making her church home at the Dr. Eloise Franklin Prayer Temple New Hope Church of God in Christ, Inc.
There, she served as Mother of the church, Sunday school teacher and was a faithful cook and baker for the church restaurant for many years.
Mother Willie Mae Butler leaves to cherish her memory, seven brothers, Bennie and wife Mary Butler of Pine Bluff, AR., Roosevelt and wife Gloria Butler of Monticello, AR., Ira and wife Clementine Butler, Theodis Butler, Roy and wife Inez Butler, of Riviera Beach, FL., Charles Butler of Madison, FL., and Lee and wife Josie Butler of Las Vegas, NV., sister-in-law, Mary Gibson of Winchester, AR., as well as a host of nieces and nephews, her church family of many, many years, Pastor Glenda Pollard and her family,her adopted daughter and her family and Pastor John Green and his family.
